HOW TO STUDY ABROAD

The first step towards planning your education abroad is asking the question to yourself, "Why do want to study abroad?"

Ask yourself Why?

The most important thing while deciding your career is that it should be based on logical facts. Do not decide to study in a foreign university just because your friend is also planning the same. Introspect and find out reasons why you would like to study abroad. This is a very important decision financially also. Thus, discuss with parents, research about foreign universities, take help from an expert and then take a final call.

Application Process:

Make a list of colleges that you would like to apply to. Check what kind of courses/ programmes they offer. Moreover, check what kind of cost is involved in studying in that college. Also, look for scholarships that they offer.

The application process generally begins in the month of October/November. Thus, if you are in class 12th right now, the time to fill the forms is approaching.

You need to appear for the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) entrance exam. You can write this exam immediately after clearing class 10th. This implies that you should ideally begin your preparation 2 years before the 12th to get into a reputed university. The SAT exam focuses on two important sections: English and Mathematics.

You should also appear for TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Testing System) which is an English language test. This is basically a test of your English language skills comprising sections like Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking.

Your academic and personal profile matter a lot. Your performance in the 9th, 10th, 11th class might also be taken into consideration so keep your average score high.

Most of the colleges that you apply to will ask you for the percentage that you are expecting in class 12th. Thus, study hard and there should not be a substantial difference between your estimate and your actual percentage.

Get expert guidance on writing/filling application form of a foreign university which includes SOP (Statement of Purpose), recommendation letter, your interests, your hobbies, and why you want to pursue foreign education.

Thus, do your research, consult a career counsellor and then work hard to get into your dream college.
